Gluten free dog food

What are wheat gluten?

Simply put, wheat gluten is the main protein of wheat.
Gluten is found in specific grains and cereals, particularly wheat, rye and barley.

However, wheat gluten is one of the most common food allergens in sensitive dogs. If a dog consumes an ingredient to which it is intolerant or allergic, it can cause a range of symptoms, such as flatulence, poor consistency of the stool and dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

Why wheat gluten-free dog food?

Although we know that not all dogs are intolerant to wheat gluten, we try to avoid ingredients that are often found to cause allergies and sensitivities in dogs.
Autarky dog food is also free from the following food allergens: beef, soy, egg and dairy products.

However, it is important to note that cereals can still be a valuable addition to a dog’s diet, and with the exclusion of wheat gluten, how can we ensure that our dogs reap the benefits of cereal-based food?

Alternatively, maize, rice and/or oats are used as nutritious carbohydrate sources, as they are less likely to be associated with allergies.
